i know i know the fic is called...blind as a bat or something along those lines...

the fic itself wasnt posted on a public server, it was a private one.

it was quite long, 3-4 installments of 15/20 chapters each.

It had a harry who was...part vampire? i think...but it only came about later on in the story...had a few oc's that were well written. harry was still at school.

please please please, if you know the location of the fic, may i have it?

I'm looking for a fic that I cannot remember all the details, but Harry either comes out or is outted, his friends do not approve at all, and ends up in Slytherin (I think he switches houses or ends up there).  Snape helps him.  I remember a particular bit where Snape has an extra room and a few the other Slytherins have stayed in what they refer to as "the room" at some point or other.  Harry may or may not have been suicidal, I'm not sure.  The only thing that really stuck out is that it was a room, not the fic where he stays on Snape's couch.

Believe it or not, I am alive. I almost posted earlier this week when I sent in my (very late) Snupin Santa (HP exchange) fic because OMG it was DONE and I was FREE FREE FREE at last!!! I could catch up on my f-list. I could SLEEP! And then I remembered I had to read and write critiques on five student stories, write four late critiques from the week before, study for a math test, read two of Aeschylus' tragedies and produce a five-page paper on the Odyssey all within... two days.

Yeah.

By Friday morning I'd been up for over 36 hours, and this was on top of getting only about eight hours of sleep in the three days before that. I'm pretty sure I flunked my math test that morning, and I probably shouldn't have told my Classical Myth professor that I was looking forward to doing my 20 page Senior Seminar paper with far more alacrity than the 10-page final paper for his class. At that point, however, I just really didn't care. I was practically giddy with delight because, reading and papers notwithstanding, I had no written assignments due until Dec 4th and OMFG I REALLY COULD SLEEP!!!! FINALLY!

And that's what I did. I got home by about 2:00 pm, slept until 6:00, was awakened by friends who wanted to take me to dinner, managed to rouse myself enough to do so, came home, fell asleep on top of some Bleach djs (another small pleasure I'd been denying myself for far too long), woke up at 10:30 AM still in my clothes and -- despite my best intentions otherwise -- have been a napping, brain-dead slug for most of the day. I did manage to get 2 loads of laundry done. Tomorrow I'll try and tackle some cleaning. I thought about trying to write -- you know, something that doesn't have a deadline?</i> -- but I think those creative muscles must need a break because it just wasn't happening.

Anyway, whew! I am alive and am giving myself a couple of days break. So... did I miss anything interesting?

Ok recently I haven't found anything worthwhile to read, so I need some good ones!  Rec me something you are currently reading that you like, or have read within the past month.  And if you're a writer, rec me something that you have just completed or are at least 1/2 done with (sorry I prefer completed works, but will follow a WIP if it's a bit into it). 

As for story type... it can be big, small, plot, no plot, kinks... Anything works for me, just need something new that I haven't read 10 times now lol.

Today is the one year anniversary of my father's death and it's important to me to mark that occasion here. For a year, I struggled to find the words to honor him, but they wouldn't come. Then, on Election Day, in the slightly less than an hour between voting and leaving for work, the words poured out. What follows is what I wrote that day, November 4, 2008. It was originally posted, in a very slightly different form (and under a different name,) on the political blog, dailyKos. ( So yes, it's about politics, and my father and me, and love. )

Hello everyone! I have been going crazy. There are two fics that I remember reading before but my old computer died and I lost all of my saved stories. Now I can't remember where I read them.  I am not sure of the title of the 1st. one. I remember that Severus was sick and in bed in his and Harry's house and Dumbledore brought an orphan boy to see if they would take care of him. I remember at some point Snape says that since he is contagious that the boy should just stay so he crawls into bed with Severus to sleep.
The second I believe is called Taking a Chance (or something like it) Harry is taken hostage by Pansy Parkinson because she thinks he is with Draco. Severus, who is his best friend comes to look for him. I remember a scene where Harry whines to Sev that they hurt him and Sev says he'll take care of them for him. It is very funny and they end up together because of Harry taking a chance.
